The REALTORS Association of Lincoln is reporting the month of September 2009 had a record number of single-family residential listings under contract - 404 is the highest reported for a September. In speaking with a few residential REALTORS, they attribute a large percentage of these to the Home Buyer Tax Credit available for first-time homebuyers.
To further stimulate the housing market, Congress has recently passed legislation extending the home buyer tax credit through April 30, 2010 and expanding the credit up to $6,500 for current home owners purchasing a new or existing home between November 7, 2009-April 30, 2010. Visit with a REALTOR for more details on if you qualify for the credit.
