Downtown Properties Changes Hands

Thought it might be interesting to note that two properties downtown are now owned by B & J Partnership, one of the top ten largest property owners in Lincoln.  The two properties are the former Speer Auto at 926 L Street and 1226 P Street where WC's is at and Holway Tux had been.  Holway is now closed and available for lease.  WC's appears still open.

Great Clips Opening at 52nd & O Streets

Great Clips has leased the last remaining space in the retail strip center at 5141 O Street.  After Pier 1 vacated the east corner a few years ago, part of the space was built out for Alltel, now Verizon, which left a small bay to the west.

New Oral Surgery Office Under Construction

A new oral surgery office of approximate 3,900 square feet is under construction on the lot just east of the mortuary at 41st & A Street.  The lot and former home were purchased back in August 2009.  This makes the third site in less than a year that the current owner has developed.  One is on N. 84th Street and the other north of 33rd & Superior.

The Snow Effect

We are all painfully aware of the amount of snow Lincoln received during the month of December.  December 2009 recorded the most snowfall ever for that month!  January is not off to a great start.

So if you are a property owner, be sure to check awnings and roofs for the weight of the snow and be mindful of how piled snow may impact your building once it starts to melt.  (Though I do not see that happening in the very near future.)  A weak spot on the roof can turn into a major problem with the snow levels that we have seen lately.

You can find a reputable roofing contractor or a snow removal service at the Better Business Bureau website.

Only Breadcrumbs are Left

Some of you might remember the Wonder Bread store that was located on N. 27th Street about a block north of Cornhusker Hwy.  That store has now been closed for quite some time due to problems with the structure.  The newest development...between Christmas and New Year's the building was demolished and reduced to rubble (or breadcrumbs however you want to refer to it).

The parcel of land, which is almost a full acre, is for sale and if you are interested in more information, contact Chris Vasek or John Hyland at 402-441-5800.
